Pinspiration | Marimekko Craft Tablecloth
I don’t know about you…but I don’t have a designated craft room in my home. I am limited on space so I end up doing my projects all over the place…on the couch, at the table, at my desk, on the floor, on the bed, etc. I inevitably end up making a total mess.
This way of crafting came to a head when I inadvertently shellacked the corner of my dining room table. Uh oh. I knew then that I had to figure out a better way of doing this or I’d end up ruining all my furniture, my carpet and everything else along with it. It was then that I decided I needed a easy-to-clean tablecloth to put over my precious dining room table.
I first went to my neighborhood fabric store and found some great oilcloth. I began debating the patterns in my head until I discovered this amazing Marimekko PVC coated fabric online. I knew that this was the one that will take me through many years of crafting! The bright colors will make me smile every time I bring it out.
Then after months of debating on how I wanted to create the edge on the tablecloth I found this DIY post by Susan Phillips from Livingwithpunks, on Momtastic. Her tablecloth DIY was brilliantly edged using jumbo ric-rac! I knew this was my inspiration! Thanks for the inspiration Susan!
Check out her post for all the instructions! But in the meantime, check out a few photos of my process!
Someday I’ll get my own craft room …but until then I’ll try and contain myself to making a mess that is easy to clean. Bring on the glitter!
