Crafter’s Guide to Seattle
This is my first edition of a Crafter’s Guide to Seattle. Whether it is fabric, yarn, beads, glue, or plain old inspiration…this guide lists all my favorite places to shop for craft materials in the area. The guide lists the shops out by neighborhood to help you find what you’re looking for. If you are familiar with Seattle you might have visited these places before, and if you are NOT familiar with Seattle hopefully this will aid you on your next visit. :)

I drove past this store for months before I was able to stop in for a visit. A boutique fabric store that carries fabric from all over the world. Beautiful wools and silks that you can’t find at your run of the mill fabric store.
513 N 36th St, Seattle, WA 98103 · (206) 258-2446
I love this bead store. They not only have a huge selection of beads, but their classes are fantastic. You can purchase entire projects from their website, including downloadable instructions and techniques. I always refer to their site when I’m creating jewelry.
3830 Stone Way N, Seattle, WA 98103 · (206) 782-4595
This store looks as beautiful as the items they carry. Cards, gifts, paper and invitations. If you are a paper whore you must stop here.
2205 N 45th St, Seattle, WA 98103 · (206) 547-1002
Artist and Craftsman Supply
I only discovered this art shop about a year ago. It’s easy to miss because it’s tucked underneath PetCo in the basement. There is easy parking across from the entrance. It’s a little dark and strange as you walk in, but make sure you walk all the way to the back where they keep all the framing and paper supplies.
4350 8th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105 · (206) 545-0091
This might seem like an odd place to go for craft supplies, but if you go to the basement level of the store, you will find their Art department. I spent A LOT of money here in college, but I find that they always have a good selection of paper here. They carry a little bit of everything…to help satisfy that crazy art student. :) Plus you can always visit their art book section to gather some inspiration or instructional books.
4326 University Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105 · (206) 634.3400
The University Village location is smaller than their Bellevue store, but it’s still an amazing place to find paper, ribbon, cards, stamping supplies, and paper crafts.
2623 NE University Village St, Seattle, WA 98105 · (206) 523-3683
This is not your typical garden shop. This local shop carries a ton of cool containers, gifts and decor.

Acorn Street Shop
Tucked away just north of University Village is this great neighborhood knitting shop.
2818 NE 55th St, Seattle, WA 98105 · (206) 525-1726
I have a hard time describing this store. Only that you can go into this store with the craziest cake idea and come out with all of the supplies. Don’t be scared by the environment…the owner is super helpful and is extremely knowledgeable.
9514 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115 · (206) 522-4300

This is my go-to fabric store. They not only carry a good selection of upholstery fabrics, they have a good selection of craft supplies in the back of the store.

Blick Art Materials
Like Daniel Smith, this is a good resource for traditional art supplies. However, they carry some unique materials for crafting. Parking is a little difficult on the street, but they validate in the parking garage below the store.
1600 Broadway Ave, Seattle, WA 98122 · (206) 324-0750
Elliott Bay Book Company
This longtime local bookstore moved from Pioneer Square to Capital Hill in 2010. Stop here to browse your favorite subject whether its crafting, art, gardening or cooking. They host many author book signings during the year, so check their website for the latest. A bonus is they have a cute little café in the back of the store!

Cone & Steiner
My cohort in crafting, Cathie of tinsel + trim, introduced me to this shop on Capitol Hill. I immediately fell in love. It’s a small niche market that carries unique food and gift items. You can even sit at the end of the bar and enjoy a drink!
